FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the recommended class sequence?
How much SketchUp experience is required for your courses?
All of the courses use case studies and a learn-by-doing method. I ask complete beginners to take the free Intro Course and we move from there. Many of the students are just using SketchUp for the first time.
What version of SketchUp do I need for these courses?
Using SketchUp Make 2017 (free desktop version) is a great way to learn SketchUp, it is very robust and compatible with most of my courses. However, once you are committing to using SketchUp in your design business, switching to Pro will take you to another level. (Plus you sign an agreement with them that if you use it commercially, you agree to use Pro.)
That being said, the only course that Pro is needed for is the LayOut course and the Lighting Template. The new browser based free version of SketchUp (SketchUp Free) is fun to draw on, but not compatible with any courses.
Where can I find SketchUp Make? (Free desktop version)
You can go to SketchUp.com/download/all and see SketchUp Make 2017. There will not be a 2018 version as SketchUp has moved to a browser based free program.
If I have questions during the course how do I reach you?
You can email me, I (Tammy) am happy to answer any questions. It helps if you attach the SketchUp file to the email so that I can investigate the issue further.
Do you record your courses on a Mac or PC?
The courses are recorded on a Mac, however throughout the course I discuss the differences between the two. PC users are not left out!
Do you offer in-person one-on-one trainings?
Yes! I offer those on a request basis. Two-day trainings can be held in an office in San Luis Obispo, CA. The cost for this training is $1750. This includs lunch on both days.
How do I right click on a Mac trackpad?
Instead of clicking with one finger, click with two fingers.
